Health insurance went up this year by as much as 49%. Look it up. My exemployer just had a 30% increase in the cost of health insurance for employees the beginning of this year. We had to pay more and got much less for it. That is because this year nobody could be turned down for health insurance and the limit on liability was removed. This bill is causing health insurance to be much more expensive rather than cheaper. If you think adding 30,000,000 poor people to the mix, the cost of which will be added to all other’s health insurance will make it cost less, then you are deluding yourself.

the United States is the ONLY country in the west without universal health care and they also pay the MOST. It makes no sense.

Also, I don’t get how those tea party people bitch about losing their ‘freedom’ when they live in a country with the highest incarceration rate in the word so clearly not free to being with.

If they want a cause, what about the police state the US has become?

universal healthcare = 45, 000 + lives saved each year but they’d rather spend trillions of dollars murdering innocent people in the Middle East. -.-

Health care insurance usually goes up about 2-3 percent a year, before Obamacare. After Obamacare, people are reporting that their insurance costs shot up anywhere from 30%-300% overnight.

If Obamacare had never passed, Health care costs would have remained the same. Thanks to Obamacare, it is indeed spiraling out of control.

The 1 trillion dollars is for the entire 10 years of the first part of the plan. Anyway, health insurance rates have increased because insurance companies dont want to cut into their profits. In 4 years when you can buy a policy from the exchange, the cost will be cheaper because of government subsidy and tax credit.

Health Insurance in america is quite frankly a joke, I´m sure a lot of you people agree with this. The health insurance companies care more about making money instead of helping people. I would guess the reason why republicans don´t want goverment run health care is that it would be a too great cost for the goverment. They don´t want to fix this problem.

A comment made by the actress Cher in the movie “Mask”: “Men. If you take their money, you have to take their sh!t, too.”

This comment keeps coming back to me each time I weight the cost of business services. It keeps reminding me whether or not I am in charge, or if someone/something else is in charge.

If I am not at least 50% in charge, I usually go shopping elsewhere.

When the cost of bread goes down — never. Seriously I do expect everything to go up in price, but what’s happening now is that Obamacare is going to cost the insurance companies so they’re getting prepared. The Insurance companies have to keep up with cost or they will go out of business.

I’ve seen that insurane co. profit margins are only 2-3% . They can’t afford extra costs so premiums rising shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Obama knew this bill would increase costs, but he didn’t care. He only cares about ‘transforming America”.

@maxmom, vilifying businesses that provide us with the services we need doesn’t accomplish anything.

Answer your own question. Suppose you were going to cover just two people and set premiums for those two people. One person is a 19 year old male in good health. The other is a 32 year old female with cerebral palsy and lung cancer. Insurance premiums are normally set by the amount of money that is at risk. This is true for any kind of insurance. The first question is what does it cost to provide the coverage. The government will mandate a premium to level the playing field for everybody. The cost to provide health care for the 19 year old male will be the same as that needed to provide coverage for the 32 year old female with cerebral palsy and lung cancer. This is going to have to be paid for with tax dollars from people who are already paying for health care. You will be paying for everybody else’s coverage no matter what and enrollment and purchase will be mandatory and subject to a fine for failure to procure coverage. You are now able to see advertised on TV low cost medical coverage with no exclusions for pre existing conditions. You need to learn to listen to double talk or just plain out in the open talk that you don’t really understand. The coverage now available to people who were previously excluded will provide coverage for almost everything except the pre existing conditions. If you have cancer yes you can buy the coverage but it won’t cover you for cancer. If insurance companies thought they could make money covering everything at a premium people would be willing to pay why wouldn’t they do it.? If I’m selling cars at $25,000 and that is considered reasonable why would I sell the same car to everybody for $70,000? Who would buy it?
